Our Story

Entoto Gear day 1 shoot-59 copy.jpg

Long story short...

Long before we stepped our feet on Africa's soil. Our souls were leading us on the journey. We'd individually dreamed of visiting what is called the motherland of humanity but made no real plans until one day in 2013, I decided now's the time. In January of 2014, I made my way across the globe leaving my five children and husband to await my return.

Upon my return, I knew that the souls of those I loved so dearly must too be awakened to the beauty, the blessing and the burden that lives within the mighty continent.

And as God would have it, through a miraculous turn of events, my husband, Ray and my oldest daughter Tori, locked arms with my awakening, trusted the process and made the same journey 6 months later.

Blessed to be a blessing is a term used very often here in the South; so were putting it in action!

Entoto Gear is a global apparel and accessories company founded by two military veterans.

Our goal at Entoto Gear is to create opportunities for women to thrive economically, intellectually and spiritually.

When you buy a backpack from us we will give away a patent pending weight distributing pack to a woman in Ethiopia. These give away packs are called The Purpose Packs!

Project 001 - Lighten the load

Lightening the load that these women bear on a daily basis is the first project of Entoto Gear. We want to distribute 1000 Purpose Packs within the next two years.

In Phase 1, we will use the profits from the sale of our products to purchase 1000 patent pending weight distributing Purpose Packs to give away to a woman in Ethiopia.

InPhase 2, we will begin creating employment and entrepreneurial opportunities for these women that will empower them, their children, the surrounding area and in time the whole continent.

This load of eucalyptus can weigh up to 125 lbs. The women carry these loads up and down Entoto Mountain to earn $1 a day. Can you imagine?  You can be apart of changing her story.  The Purpose Pack will cut the weight of this load in half.  Lightening the load is the beginning.  Will you be apart of the change?  Will you be a difference maker in her story?
